Allan Horwood
Owner, CEO
Allan Horwood started in the pool business in 1984 and, after collecting 11 years worth of experience, he decided to take the ‘plunge’ and start his own company in 1995 — cue Pool Patrol. The company began in the Vancouver area and once successful, Allan expanded his business to the Okanagan in 2018. In the beginning, until early 2000, Pool Patrol was a one-stop-shop for everything pools and hot tubs; installs, repairs, etc. However, as Pool Patrol grew, the services shifted and refocussed on pool covers; infinity-edge, automatic, manual, and removable pool fences. To date, Allan is overseeing both locations; Lower Mainland and the Okanagan, and proudly representing the industry’s fastest-growing automatic pool cover company. He enjoys the multiple-hats he gets to wear owning a small business as well as the close relationship he is able to develop with his customers (builders and homeowners) and suppliers. When he’s not working, you can catch him practicing yoga, golfing, or spending time with the family in Vancouver or the Okanagan.
Eric Miller
Okanagan Regional Sales & Service Manager
Eric has more than 10 years of experience as an automotive mechanic in Canada. Prior to joining Pool Patrol, he was a senior mechanic at Leavitt Machinery and Nissan. He brings with him a tenacious work ethic and endless passion for all things mechanical. His hobbies follow suit; everything motorsports-related; sleds, dirt bikes, race cars, etc. He joined Pool Patrol in 2019, and since then has been paramount in expanding business in the Okanagan. He enjoys the independence, variety of work; a balance between sales and installations, the one-on-one customer relationships he’s able to develop, trouble-shooting, and the satisfaction that follows a successful fix. Not to mention, it definitely beats the walls of an office/shop when your day-to-day backdrop is the scenic Okanagan! In his spare time, aside from fixing all things motorsports, you’ll find him spending time with family and friends; boating, backyard BBQs, snowboarding, and more.
Todd Kujawa
Pool Cover Installer & Technician
Prior to joining Pool Patrol, Todd was a customer first. In 2008, Todd had a young family and recognized the importance of a safety cover. Fast forward to 2014, during a teachers’ strike, Todd and Pool Patrol’s paths crossed (again) and he decided to join the team. His strong personal connection to our covers — an intuitive understanding for the safety — has been helpful to Pool Patrol and our customers.
Todd brings with him an intrinsic passion for problem-solving and ingenuity — inherited from his Dad — which, as you can imagine, has been a necessary skillset on a job site as installations and repairs are not always by the book. He especially enjoys the ability to see a project to fruition. Knowing he’s left another job site with a fully operational — and safe! — cover is satisfying.
When not working, you can find Todd teaching music to elementary school kids or mountain biking all around the Lower Mainland — keep your eyes open!
Jesse Parnell
Pool Cover Installer & Technician
Jesse brings with him over 15 years of experience building swimming pools — which, he is excited to apply to pool covers. He’s confident — and proven — that his years of experience in the pool industry are strong transferable traits. Some of the perks of the job include; working outside, problem-solving, and knowing that we — Pool Patrol — is adding a major safety component to swimming pools. It brings him a lot of joy knowing he’s potentially preventing unsafe situations from arising; especially in regards to small children around swimming pools. In his spare time, you can catch him spending time with his family, skateboarding, listing to music, and playing the guitar.
