Pool Patrol to Donate 10% of August Sales to Wildfire Relief

Two large wildfires of note tore through the Okanagan Valley in the first weeks of August 2026. The Bald Range wildfire forced more than 20,000 people out of their homes in Summerland and Peachland, and the Bradley Creek wildfire has been burning along Westside Road near Vernon, according to the BC Wildfire Service. 

Owner Allan Horwood says the fires disrupted things right at his own place in Naramata this month, where his family watched Summerland go up in flames from across the Okanagan Lake. Allan opened his home to displaced community members, then donated clothing and Canadian Tire gift cards to the evacuees. 

Wanting to do a whole lot more, Allan said he “wanted Pool Patrol to do something. This one hit really close to home.”

10% of August Sales go to Mamas for Mamas Fire Support Fund

We're putting Pool Patrol's name behind Mamas for Mamas, a BC nonprofit currently coordinating wildfire relief for families impacted across the Okanagan, the Shuswap, and Kamloops. "The fires in the Okanagan have impacted so many people, and there's so much need right now," says Horwood.

Mamas for Mamas is directing support to families displaced by the fires, supplies for first responders working the lines, and help for temporary farm workers and unsheltered residents caught in evacuation zones, the groups that usually fall through the cracks in a disaster response. They're one of several local efforts stepping up right now, alongside the Canadian Red Cross and the Community Foundation North Okanagan's wildfire response fund.

A New Fire-Readiness Offering is on the Horizon

Pool Patrol is working on a demo and potential partnership with Fight Fire First (featured on Shark Tank). It’s an at-home firehose system that connects to a home's existing pool pump, thereby using the existing pool water as a reservoir in an emergency. Stay tuned!
